This unique bridge was originally a self-supporting structure with no attachment to either of the surrounding buildings. To attach the bridge, one end needed a concrete pier. At the time, labor for concrete forming and pouring was in high demand, which would have negatively impacted the project’s cost and schedule. As a solution, TrueNorth Steel proposed a precast pier that weighed 68,000 lbs. TrueNorth Steel ultimately designed, supplied, and installed both the bridge and foundation – a complete turnkey package.
