Every October, the steel industry takes a moment to celebrate what makes it great, the people, the projects, and products that play an essential role in shaping American infrastructure. TrueNorth Steel joined the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and peers nationwide for SteelDays, a week dedicated to showcasing the strength, adaptability, and enduring role of steel in building our communities.

Across TrueNorth Steel’s Fargo, Mandan, and Billings facilities, students, engineers, general contractors, and community members stepped inside fabrication shops to see firsthand how steel continues to shape the future of construction and manufacturing.

“From healthcare facilities to data centers and bridges that connect communities, TrueNorth Steel is proud to play a part in building what lasts. SteelDays is an opportunity to celebrate the people and projects that make that possible, and to honor our teams whose craftsmanship and commitment keep us moving forward,” said Dan Kadrmas, President of TrueNorth Steel.

Strength and Sustainability in Every Build

Steel has always been synonymous with strength, but it’s real power lies in its resilience. As Modern Steel Construction noted, few materials can match steel’s adaptability.

  • Resilient: Structural steel frames withstand hurricane-force winds, seismic vibrations and surging stormwaters, time after time.
  • Long-Lasting: The oldest steel bridge still in service in the U.S. opened during Abraham Lincoln’s lifetime, and still carries traffic today
  • Adaptable: After a fire warped a main truss member on Pittsburgh’s Liberty Bridge, engineers developed a repair plan that had the bridge reopened in just 24 days.

That same spirit of resilience runs through the team at TrueNorth Steel. Just as important as what TrueNorth Steel builds is how it’s built. Steel is infinitely recyclable, more than any other construction product in the world, playing a vital role in lowering the carbon footprint of modern construction. From design to fabrication, TrueNorth Steel remains committed to sustainable practices that ensure strength today and responsibility for tomorrow.

“Our work doesn’t just go into projects, it becomes part of the communities we live in. There’s pride in knowing what we build will stand strong for decades, and that we’re contributing to a more sustainable future through steel products, one of the most recyclable materials on earth.”

Five of TrueNorth Steel’s sites have earned AISC sustainability partner recognition, reflecting sustainable practices and our commitment to being among the greenest fabricators. As an AISC sustainability partner, we’ve not only demonstrated our commitment to minimizing environmental impacts but also to navigating regulatory requirements.

Pride in Every Project

While SteelDays shines a light on the industry, for TrueNorth Steel, it’s also a celebration of the people behind the product. The welders, material handlers, drafters, engineers, and project managers who bring skill and dedication to every job.

“Our people are the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s a bridge, a tank, or a structural beam, every piece we produce carries our commitment to quality and safety.”
