FORGED THROUGH EXPERIENCE
About Us
Since 1945
Trusted to deliver
Since 1945, we’ve built our business on one simple principle: Be the reliable, dependable provider of steel products our customers demand, on time and without compromise.
As a leading steel products supplier and manufacturer, we’ve been going above and beyond for clients for over 80 years, serving as a trusted partner across a variety of industries. From agriculture, construction, mining, road and bridge construction, stormwater management and energy, we bring expertise, responsive service and precision to every job.
What sets us apart is the ability to design, fabricate and deliver, all under one roof. Our team of construction industry experts partner closely with project leaders, engineers and architects to recommend the right solution, every time.
We’re hands-on from concept to completion, and with our own fleet, we control logistics and minimize delays. It’s how we deliver a reliable and consistent experience that translates into successful projects and lasting, repeat partnerships.

Our History
Leading with Integrity
TrueNorth Steel’s story began in 1945 when Ole Rommesmo Sr., a Norwegian immigrant, launched his first company: Fargo Tank. His values, integrity, humility, focus, commitment, and knowledge, continue to shape and drive the way we do business.
Over the decades, the business grew through strategic acquisitions, creating a diverse portfolio of steel products and capabilities, while extending the company’s footprint across North America. Companies like Huron Culvert and Tank, Minnkota Windows, Mandan Steel, Johnston Fargo Culvert, FTC Transport, Dakota Steel, Precision Stair and Steel, Roscoe Steel and Culvert, and Beck Steel came together under The Rommesmo Companies.
Ole Rommesmo, Jr. now leads the business, and in 2011, unified these businesses as TrueNorth Steel. Today, as a family-owned company, Ole and the leadership team of TrueNorth Steel expertly balance tradition with innovation, continuing the legacy of delivering high-performance and quality solutions while honoring the principles that started it all.
