Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for assisting the Inventory Control Manager in all aspects of inventory transactions for inventory and tool crib, if applicable.

Essential Position Requirements:

  • Follow all company safety and quality requirements.

  • Work with shop personnel on inventory levels of consumables and shop supplies.

  • Develop and coordinate minimum and maximum inventory levels and usage.

  • Identify damaged, obsolete and slow moving inventory items.

  • Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies when necessary.

  • Responsible for physical organization and storage of inventory.

  • Inspect incoming materials and notify appropriate personnel of non-conformances.

  • Will assist production with immediate inventory needs when necessary.

  • Will assist material handlers in purchase order pickups and drop offs at customer sites and outside services when needed.

  • Perform cycle counts when necessary in accordance with company policy.

  • Must have regular communication with other divisions of TrueNorth Steel.

  • Performing inventory transactions in Company ERP system.

  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime or weekends as needed.

  • Prompt and dependable attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Technical School degree or equivalent experience.

  • One to three years manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Experience in inventory control preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of internal controls and programs.

  • Strong systems background.

  • Demonstrated knowledge with Excel, Work, and Outlook.

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented atmosphere.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Inventory Specialist is regularly required to sit, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear well.
  • The Inventory Specialist may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • The Inventory Specialist must be able to climb stairs, bend at the waist, twist, climb, stoop, stand, walk, grasp, pull, push, and have the full use of fingers on both hands to enable safe material handling, as well as function efficiently and safely in the outdoor work environments with exposure to weather extremes.

  • The Inventory Specialist must be able to hear and understand verbal instructions in a shop environment, as well as effectively communicate (verbal and written)
